Complete Your Application to Earn Your Master’s Degree Online

No GRE/GMAT Required

Since you last engaged with International Relations Online, the field of international relations has changed—and the need for informed, experienced international relations professionals is greater than ever. AU’s programs have evolved to make sure our students stay ahead of the curve.

We’ve Taken Our Programs to the Next Level

American University School of International Service (SIS) is committed to helping students gain the skills and expertise they need to stay competitive in an evolving field. Here are just some of the ways we’re keeping our international relations master’s programs relevant for professionals like you:

No GRE/GMAT Requirement

We recently removed the GRE/GMAT requirement from our application, and we’re viewing each candidate’s experience and skill set with a more holistic approach. That means you don’t have to let standardized testing hold you back from advancing your career.

Capstone Experience

To supplement online classes, you’ll gain direct, hands-on experience through a capstone project. Craft your own capstone experience by choosing to complete a client-based practicum or an in-depth research paper. You’ll have the opportunity to work directly with a real client and build your résumé to meet your professional goals.

Skills Institutes

The field of IR is ever-changing, so our 1-credit Skills Institutes are updated often to reflect trending topics in the field. Some of our current Skills Institutes include:

  • Multicultural Negotiation and Crisis Management
  • Structured Analytic Techniques
  • Data Visualization
  • Op-Ed Writing
  • Smartphone Media Production
  • Briefing Policy Makers
