Professor Willoughby has recently returned from a two-year stay in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates where he helped create an undergraduate economics program at the new American University of Sharjah. He has also taught at the American University in Cairo as a visiting professor. His teaching interests are: European Economic History, American Economic History, Political Economy, History of Economic Thought. He received his Ph.D in Economics at the University of California at Berkeley, his MA in Economics from Cambridge University, and his undergraduate degree in History from the University of Michigan.
